Just another way of saying, “don’t mix in solo”. No one gets to hear the shaker soloed. Even if it sounds incredible on its own, how does it sit with everything else? It’s another interesting layer of complexity to determine the sonic quality of something not only on its own, but in relation to everything in context.

Most DAWs have a setting to automatically un-solo a track once another track has been soloed. It might be worth a try.
